Our on-site therapists help children heal through many varying types of therapeutic practices. We have one full time KIDS Center therapist and four who work for Deschutes County Behavioral Health services. All our therapists are based on site but can see children in Redmond and La Pine.
Play therapy is one of the most powerful ways we can help children. Drawing, playing with toys, using a sand tray and looking at images all help a child feel safe, comfortable and able to open up to how they feel. All our therapy sessions are tailored to the child's developmental age and are focused on working with the child's current behavior, concerns and challenges.
We also engage in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It uses a structured approach to address past, present, and future aspects of disturbing memories. When our brains are injured, they want to move towards healing. This process is very powerful and has proven to be very effective when working with children who have endured trauma.
Our therapists also work closely with the families, as their support and continued care is essential for a child to heal.
If you need to find a therapist, here is a list based on location and specialty.
