Meet the Team

KIDS Center has 20 members of staff and 5 Deschutes County Mental Health Therapists. Below are our 5 Directors:

Shelly Smith 

Executive Director

Shelly holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and has worked for non-profits in Seattle for over 20 years mainly focused on child and family services. She moved to Bend to join KIDS Center in 2008 and currently is the chair of the Deschutes County Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT).

Dr. Deanna St. Germain, D.O.

Medical Director

Deanna is a family physician specializing in child abuse medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She came to the KIDS Center in January of 2009 leaving southern Illinois where she was an Asst. Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Practice and was also the Medical Director of the Children’s Medical Resource Network.

Holly West

Finance Director

Holly has been in the accounting field for 15 + years in different capacities.  Prior to joining KIDS Center, she was employed by Western Communications, Inc. as  Controller for the company.  Holly and her family have been a part of the Bend community since 1995.  Over the years, Holly has been both a United Way Volunteer and a Smart Reader volunteer in the schools.

Robin Antonson

Development & Prevention Director

Robin has a Masters in Human Resources and Organizational Development. She previously worked in Human Resources before joining the non profit sector 8 years ago at the High Desert Museum. She joined KIDS Center in 2010 and oversees our fundraising efforts including major gifts, grants,beneficiary events and our prevention team.

Dr.Paula Wolfteich

Clinical Director

Paula is a licensed psychologist  with over 20 years of experience as a practitioner, trainer, and researcher in the field of child maltreatment.  She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University in 1992 with a specialization in child and adolescent psychology. Paula has experience working within child protective agencies and Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) conducting psychological evaluations, specialized interviews,  and as a program evaluator and researcher. She was formerly the director of a state and federally funded Sexual Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) in Florida and has trained graduate level, mental health professional s and child advocates on the assessment  and treatment of  abuse related trauma. Paula moved to Bend from Florida in 2013 to take a  position with   Deschutes County Health Services as the KIDS Center Therapy supervisor  and recently joined KIDS Center as Clinical Director.
