Volunteer with Us!

Volunteers are a valuable part of KIDS Center and help us do more for families.

Our volunteers help us raise more funds, reach more people, and free up staff to serve more families. As a volunteer, the time and effort you give makes a difference to an ever-growing number of children and families affected by child abuse in Central Oregon.

There are many different volunteer opportunities at KIDS Center, from helping out at our front desk to supporting an event. You can volunteer on a regular basis or pitch in when life allows. Keep scrolling for details on volunteer opportunities at KIDS Center!

Volunteer Opportunities

Events

Events are a great way to help out at KIDS Center without having to fulfill a regular time commitment.  You can help out as little, or as much as you like at our events.  We cater our needs to your talents and experience. Our biggest events include Child Abuse Prevention Month in April and Cork & Barrel in July.  Event volunteers do not need to go through the same degree of training as on-site volunteers.

Front Desk

Volunteering at the KIDS Center front desk is a great way to work with families, community partners, and staff. Front desk volunteers must be people-oriented and skilled at managing front desk and administrative tasks in a dynamic environment. This volunteer position requires a one-year commitment and completion of a training program.

Projects

KIDS Center has many “behind the scenes” projects that require the help of volunteers. Project volunteers often help by making copies, stuffing envelopes, doing data entry, and making phone calls. We also utilize project volunteers during the Blue Ribbon Campaign in April and for our annual appeal in the fall. Projects are a great way to give back in a way that works for your schedule. It can also be a great option for group volunteer projects.

Volunteer Spotlight

Front Desk Volunteer
Kim Mead

Kim has lived in Bend for almost three decades. She loves the outdoors and everything Bend has to offer. What drew Kim to the role of Front Desk Volunteer? “I’ve been to so many of the Healing Hearts Luncheons and love what KIDS Center does for the community. I found I had some extra free time and wanted to give back!” Before the pandemic, Kim used to shop for KIDS Center at Costco. In her new role, Kim helps cover the front desk, greeting clients when they arrive and ensuring they feel welcome and comfortable. She also assists with special projects, like readying invitations for fundraisers. Her favorite part of volunteering? “Visiting with all of the amazing staff!”
